Did You Know There’s a Tough Mountain Challenge in Maine?
So, is this Maine's own local version of Tough Mudder? LOVE.
If you're one of those who are always down for a fitness challenge, I've got your next one for you and it's called Tough Mountain Challenge out of Sunday River.
The Tough Mountain Challenge is an obstacle course-esque race that combines natural terrain with manmade obstacles. It will take place on July 22, 2023, in Western Maine.
With rain being a constant concern lately, here's a fun fact: the Tough Mountain Challenge in Maine is rain-friendly and can be even more fun to run in the rain. Just sayin'.
The race is a 5k (3.1 miles) total filled with hikes, uphill running, snow guns and MUD! YES! This is everything Maine embodies—just amazing.
The race is timed, but just like other 5k's for a cause I'm sure you've tried, the accomplishment/reward comes from just showing up and putting in the effort to push yourself to new heights.
If you're worried about falling behind your "competitors" during the event—don't. There are different heats which basically means there will be runners of ALL levels making it feel a little less intimidating (well, until you see the mud course hehe).
Tough Mountain also wants you to know they limit the number of runners in their events so you don't have to feel rushed or claustrophobic.
According to Tough Mountain.com,
" It might be the most fun you'll ever have while also considering crying. "
