Did You Know The Infamous Lizzie Borden Had A Connection To New Hampshire?
I was flipping through my TV channels over the weekend, looking for something to watch when I came across a movie called "Lizzie Borden Took An Ax," starring Christina Ricci as Lizzie. I had never seen it before, so I restarted it from the beginning. I am familiar with the story, as most people are, but I never knew the details. For example, I never knew it happened in Massachusetts. And, I did not realize the house the family lived in is still standing, and has become a bed & breakfast as well as a museum.
The Bordens lived in Fall River in Bristol County, Massachusetts, according to Facts Ninja. That's the part everyone but me probably already knows. However, did you know that several years after the trial when Lizzie was acquitted of her father and stepmother's murder, her sister Emma moved to Newmarket, New Hampshire? In the movie, the two sisters were close until Lizzie whispered something into Emma's ear, which leads the viewers to believe it was a confession of their parent's murders. As the legend goes, Emma packed her bags and left Fall River forever. The two sisters never saw each other again.
Here's a question for you: Do you know the address of Emma's house in Newmarket. I would love to find out.
