Ed and Nadine met while taking an online international business course

Back in the spring of 2019, Ed Hallisy, a Marine Corps veteran, decided to dive into the world of international business. He enrolled in online courses with Southern New Hampshire University and began the journey toward his degree. What he didn't expect, especially at the age of 58, was to end up developing a relationship with one of his online classmates, Nadine, and fall in love. But on top of a top-tier education, that's exactly what happened.

Nadine and Ed lived 2,000 miles away from each other during their online class

When Ed first logged in for his online international business course with SNHU, he was at home in Cleveland, Ohio. At the same time, a classmate named Nadine was logging in to the same course 2,000 miles away in Santa Clarita, California. No matter the class, part of the curriculum for Nadine and Ed's online course called for interaction with an online discussion board.

According to Nadine, her posts and responses were a bit spicy and playful, which caught Ed's attention and drew him in, regardless of that not being her intention. But regardless, the spark was still ignited.

Ed began discussing the culture of Ireland and what he had experienced on a recent trip, which caught Nadine's attention, having always wanted to visit. At the same time, Nadine was posting about international trade in Mexico, and the two found themselves responding to each others' posts quite often. According to Nadine, her posts and responses were a bit spicy and playful, which caught Ed's attention and drew him in, regardless of that not being her intention. But regardless, the spark was still ignited.

Their flirtation led to traveling to see each other during the pandemic

While most people became isolated during the pandemic, the world stopping ended up becoming the perfect opportunity for Nadine and Ed to continue their studies, but also get to know one another. They each constantly flew back and forth between Ohio and California to spend more time with each other. After less than a year of crossing time zones, Ed dropped to a knee and Nadine accepted his proposal. They were married this past July and Ed moved to Santa Clarita to be with his, to quote the Beach Boys, "California Girl."

Nadine and Ed just traveled to Manchester, New Hampshire last weekend

As if the last two years haven't been an amazing whirlwind enough for Nadine and Ed, they were both just in Manchester last weekend at the physical SNHU campus to celebrate his graduation and receiving his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. Nadine is on track to complete and receive her degree in 2023.

What an amazing, incredible love story that encompasses not giving up on so many platforms: Don't give up on yourself when it comes to changing careers and becoming more educated. Don't give up on finding love again. And don't give up on finding your person. No matter your age.

We know Ed served in the U.S. Military, here are 14 musicians who also did

A salute to veterans who served their country.
