Baby Alligator Rescued from Chilly Charles River in Boston, Massachusettes
Only in New England can a baby alligator be rescued. What? Yes, it’s true.
Even better, he has now been nicknamed. Meet Charles, he was rescued from the freezing waters of the Charles River recently, according to WMTW.
Employees at Joe’s Crazzy Critters first spotted him at night and immediately rescued him from the waters.
He was then talent to the New England Wildlife Center for treatment.
According to WMTW, he was in pretty bad shape since the Vets found out he had an upper respiratory infection.
This happened likely due to the very unexpected dip he took in the 45 degree water, near the MIT sailing station, as per the article.
But don’t worry, he is warmly tucked in and healing now.
How Did An Alligator End Up in The Charles River?
The experts think that Charles was most likely a domestic pet that someone couldn’t care for any longer. So this entire situation is a reminder to all pet owners to not release unwanted pets in the wild. It’s never ever a good idea.
According to the article, because of this bizarre situation, many Boston locals are cheering for Charles’ recovery.
His journey has left many thinking how he ended up this far north.
Most importantly, Charles is safe and getting the medical attention he needs to thrive.
Hopefully he doesn’t have any more adventurous like this in his life and will stay in a warm and safe habitat.
