I crave a good sandwich more often than I'd like. It seems like a pretty simple concept, yet, there are a lot of lousy ones. Of course, there is the Italian at Amato's. But for me that's a summer time sandwich, and in a category by itself.

The great thing about asking people about their favorite sandwiches is that it runs the gamut. I was surprised to see a liverwurst sandwich (the Cannonball from Big Top Deli) make the top 15. But it did. I haven't had liverwurst since growing up. My dad loved liverwurst and I always wanted to and tried so many times. I never quite acquired the tolerance for the taste or consistency. But if you like it, try the Cannonball at Big Top Deli in Brunswick. It's a favorite of Todd who left a glowing review on Yelp.
