Attempted Kidnapping At Local Supermarket Turned Out To Be A Big Misunderstanding
Earlier this week, we heard reports about an attempted kidnapping at the Hannaford at Back Cove in Portland. I found this to be quite alarming, considering this is where I do my grocery shopping, and that I have two young daughters.
But we are now learning that it was all a big misunderstanding.
According to WMTW, what actually happened was much more harmless than originally thought. A man accidentally took the shopping cart, not seeing the 2-month old baby inside.
But as soon as he realized there was a baby in his shopping cart, he just left it in the bread aisle!
Sounds like he made an honest mistake, but probably didn't choose the best way to react to it...
The story has made national news, with the New York Post reporting on it this morning.
