The people who work at the Cross Insurance Arena in Portland do some amazing things to transform this iconic arena to suit whatever event they have coming. This time-lapse video shows just how much work goes into it..

Portland Bulls N' Broncos

On September 20th, 2025, Lucky E Rodeo Company brought Portland Bulls 'N Broncos to the Cross Insurance Arena. It wasn't their first time here, but to accommodate this exciting rodeo for all ages, a lot of work has to be done to turn the floor of the arena into dirt that horses can run on.

Not Their First Rodeo

This is not the first time a whole bunch of dirt was dumped onto the arena floor. If you've ever been to one of the many monster truck shows that have taken place at the arena, you can tell just how much dirt had to be dumped on the floor. I can't imagine the task ahead of them to clear all that dirt out for basketball and hockey games.

It started like you see above. Bare floor, one piece of equipment, and the Cross Insurance Arena video display. What happens next over a time-lapse of 64 seconds is nothing short of spectacular.

The Cross Insurance Arena posted this time-lapse video starting with the empty floor and finishing was looks like either a beach with no water or a very shallow sand pit.

Hats off to all the people who make transforming an arena into a rodeo. Amazing.
