After having to take the year off because of COVID, the annual 'Festival of Trees' is returning to Waterville in November. According to WABI TV 5, it is set to kickoff right around the Thanksgiving holiday.

Some noticeable changes this year come in the form of a name change. So many Central Mainers are used to hearing the event referred to as the 'Sukeforth Family Festival of Trees'. Well, after years of hosting the event, the Sukeforth family has decided to step down.

This year, the Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce will be partnering with the Alfond Youth & Community Center to create the event. At the last Festival of Trees (2019), organizers say they had about 60 trees on display. This year they hope to have even more than that.

The festival allows local businesses to decorate and then donate trees while attendees can purchase tickets for a chance to win their favorite one. Organizers are still looking for local volunteers to help with the event as well as local businesses to help decorate and donate trees. Any person or business that might be interested is asked to contact the Mid-Maine Chamber of Commerce or the Alfond Youth & Community Center.
