The Secret Little Maine Shop You’re Going to Want to Road Trip To
There is something so satisfying about watching people leave the big city life thinking they are going to "slow down" in Maine.. only to accidentally create the most cutest shop that ever lived.
That is basically the story behind Widener Company, 101 Main Street in Wiscasset, and honestly, we're all obsessed. They just celebrated their opening, Saturday, May 16th.
The shop was curated by Alexander Widener and his husband after moving from the electric and fast paced life of New York City to Maine, as per the video below.
What’s really interesting is hearing him talk about his journey, moving to Maine, a tumultuous childhood, and how much of that story feels unexpectedly relatable.
The Cutest Antique Shop is in Wiscasset Maine
He also shares how he and his husband kept returning to Maine, always finding themselves drawn back to the quiet charm of Wiscasset, even after leaving.
Eventually, that pull turned into something real when they were given the opportunity to take over a shop and they said yes.
I’m really glad Alexander made that leap, because what started as his dream has grown into something shared.
The items he offers are curated from his love of nature and home décor. They are located in the former Marston House Antiques.
I imagine it's one of those spots you walk in curious and leave wanting to redecorate your entire house. The shop is filled with a really thoughtful mix of vintage finds and newer home pieces.
They also have the cutest guest cottage if you want a quiet little Maine getaway right in one of the prettiest towns around.
