What Was This Thing My Dog Was Freaking Out At Outside Our Home?

So the other day, my dog Sandy starts barking and freaking out in the sun room of our house. I came into the room to see what was going on. I looked out the window, and was pretty surprised at what I saw!

I know it's some kind kind of bird, but what kind? I can't quite pinpoint exactly what it is, but I'm pretty sure I've never seen one of those in Maine before. Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever seen one of those in New Hampshire, where I lived all of my life before moving here.

It looks like a bird that you would typically see in Florida, don't you think?

I've shown it to a few people, and here are some of the answers I've gotten.

FLAMINGO

I have no idea, but I really want to know! By the way, we haven't seen whatever it was again since that day.
