The Maine Maritime Museum in Bath is a pretty cool place and this time of year is perfect for a visit.

The museum is a non-profit so they usually have to charge admission to cover their costs. For Mainers on a tight budget, the price of admission might keep them from experiencing a connection with our cultural heritage.

But for the month of January, it's free to get in!

The free admission comes courtesy of a grant from the Davenport Trust Fund who generously supports a wide range of non-profits.

During Maine's two hundred year birthday celebration, the hope is that Mainers will learn more about our maritime heritage that played such a major part in developing our state.

The exhibit right now is "The Frozen Kingdom: Commerce & Pleasure in the Maine Winter".

The museum is open 7 days a week from 9:30 am to 5 pm and is free now through January 31st.

Not only will you learn about Maine's maritime history, you can also learn how to build a toboggan. Sweet. Check out a list of events on their Facebook page.
