It was a terrifying scene in the early morning hours in this Biddeford neighborhood, as the fall nor'easter hit the area. In the video below, posted by WGME, you can see power lines shooting off quite a few sparks. Be sure to watch with the sound on, to hear the the noise it made. It looks like a Fourth of July fireworks show!

The fall nor'easter that hit in the early morning hours today caused a loss of power to over 170,000 customers in Maine, according to CMP's real-time outage map.

Although it may sound like common sense, it's worth noting that if you ever see a downed power line, don't go anywhere near it. Call the police or the power company, but never try to handle something like that yourself!
