A Rockingham County woman was charged with driving while intoxicated after she allegedly drove the wrong way on Route 93 near the Hooksett toll plaza early Sunday morning.

A trooper used a tire deflation device to stop the car driven by Laura Anderson, 47, of Brentwood, around 1:10 a.m. as she drove northbound in the southbound lanes, according to State Police officials, who said the car came to a stop near the Hooksett rest area.

Anderson was first reported driving the wrong way on Route 101 in Manchester by an off-duty officer who encountered her on Route 93 and was nearly hit head-on, according to State Police.

Anderson was also charged with reckless conduct and placed in protective custody. She will be arraigned at Merrimack Superior Court.
