Tom of Tom’s Jumbo Donuts at the Fryeburg Fair Is Retiring
After 28 years at the Fryeburg Fair, Tom is taking some well earned time off.
Tom is Tom Milianes of from Beverly, MA. If you have ever been to the Fryeburg Fair, you know his donuts. The only thing better than his donuts, is Tom himself. He is kind and sweet and loved by all. Tom’s Jumbo Donuts is one of Fryeburg Fair’s most popular foods. It's why some people go!
But Tom is 67 years old, and the the 17-hour days were pooping him out. A lot of his friends and family (including his wife) though he was going to work himself to death. So, he decided to hang up his apron while he still feels good.
Tom is still a Pastry Chef with Central Bakery in Peabody, MA. He manages their pastry line, but has never made a donut there! He saves that for the Fair.
Tom's Jumbo Donuts will be super missed. He knew that the key to a good donut was a hot one. He says of the past 28 years that he's never had a bad customer. You know he's a nice guy if he says that.
If you are depressed from this news, Tom will be coming out of retirement for two and a half days a year to work his to make those amazing donuts at the Deerfield Fair in NH at the end of September.
Thank you Tom for that warm giant pillow of deliciousness...you will be missed.
