We have a little more than a month before the tax deadline. With that in mind, some states are hit harder by taxes than others. For Maine and Massachusetts, Tax Day is Wednesday, April 17th, because both of these states both celebrate Patriots’ Day, a state holiday commemorating the battles of Concord and Lexington. For everyone else, Tax Day is Monday, April 15th.

The personal-finance website WalletHub released its annual report on the "Worst States To Be Rich From A Tax Perspective." Three New England states made the top 15 list of "Worst States To Be Poor." Those states are Maine (15), New Hampshire (6) and Vermont (10). WalletHub's researchers looked at the share of income contributed toward sales and excise taxes, property taxes and income taxes.
