I love this so much because in a day where more often than not you see kids glued to their phones, tablets, video games, and anything else that could possibly keep them from getting outside to enjoy the world, this is helping them pick up a new hobby and for not much money at all.

The Maine State Golf Association and the nonprofit Youth on Course are teaming up to try and get more kids into golf, with the thought that the younger you start and the more you play, the harder you'll get hooked.

And, take it from someone who started playing when he was a teenager -- once you start, you can't stop. My friends and I joke around all the time that it's the game we love to hate then love again (depending on how you play. Spoiler: I'm not that good, but I go more for the social aspect at this point, not to try and join the PGA Tour).

According to the Portland Press Herald, Youth on Course is open to kids ages 6-18 and will allow them, in conjunction with local Maine golf courses that want in on this program, to open a membership to the participating course for just $5, and then pay only $5 for each round after that.

So far, as noted in the title of this post, there are currently 10 golf courses in the state of Maine that are participating in the Youth on Course program. Here are the 10 courses where juniors can play rounds for just $5:
