The First State of Maine Ice Carving Championship is Happening This Weekend in Belfast
Winter Fun
With winter lasting what feels like an eternity, Mainers find as many ways as we can to find cold fun and embrace all this long season has to offer. One of those events is the Belfast Ice Festival that happens in downtown Belfast.
There are a ton of events happening for this icy weekend including Maine’s very first Ice Carving Championship.
Friday
The fun is scheduled to begin on Friday with stunning ice sculptures on display throughout downtown Belfast as well as ice bars and restaurant specials. At 6 pm Tastes of Belfast begins which celebrates all the local eats of Belfast, plus drinks, and live entertainment.
Saturday
In addition to the sculptures and ice bars throughout the town, you will also find the first live carving demonstration of the day followed by the official State of Maine Ice Carving Championships from 11-3. In the afternoon hop on a horse and carriage ride at the Belfast Chamber of Commerce where you can also make a birdhouse. At 3pm for the kids at The Colonial Theatre is a free showing of the movie Ice Age. Take a stroll on the Belfast Rail Trail in the evening for the Magical Luminary Trail and enjoy free cookies and hot chocolate at the food bridge.
Sunday
The fun wraps up on Sunday with activities for kids from 10 until 3 and crafts at Belfast Fiberarts from 10 until 2.
This event is fun for the whole family as we slowly but surely inch our way toward spring. To get the full schedule of events plus tickets to Taste of Belfast click here.
