Taylor Swift Releases ‘Lover’ Duet with Shawn Mendes: Listen
Taylor Swift surprised fans with a Shawn Mendes-featuring remix of "Lover," the title track off of her seventh studio album.
The 29-year-old made the big announcement in an Instagram video on Wednesday (November 13).
"I wanted to tell you about something that I'm really excited about," the "You Need To Calm Down" singer told the camera. "There is a new version of 'Lover' coming, a remix featuring someone that I'm such a huge fan of, who I've known for a really long time and someone that I've always really been dying to collaborate with, so drum roll please... it is featuring Shawn Mendes!"
The remix also features two new verses from the other partner's perspective. "He has taken 'Lover' and he has re-written parts of it which I think is so important because I love him as a writer and I also think that everybody would write a different love letter to their lover," Swift added. "I think his take on it is so beautiful."

"We could light a bunch of candles and dance around the kitchen, baby," Mendes begins singing in his first verse. "Pictures of when we were young / Would hang on the wall / We would sit on the stoop / I’ll sing love songs to you when we’re eighty / See I finally got you now, honey I won’t let you fall."
"Look in my eyes, they will tell you the truth," he croons in the second verse. "The girl in my story, has always been you / I’d go down with the Titanic, it’s true / For you, lover."
The two collaborators go way back: Mendes was the opening act for Swift during her 1989 World Tour in 2015. He was also the special guest at her Pasadena concert for her Reputation Stadium Tour.
