Someone recently told me that Maine has a longer coastline than California. My first thought was, "Absolute blasphemy." Our little northeastern part of the United States? How is that even possible?

Maine has 5,400 miles of mainland and island shoreline. Some of that land is privately owned. How does that work?

New England has beautiful coastlines and that is the understatement of the year, but I bet you usually don't gaze upon its beauty from a drone.
