It's starting. The coronavirus is slowly creeping into our summer plans, and I am not okay with it.

The 53 Stratham Fair on July 16th-19th has been cancelled, according to Seacoastonline, as the news came out on Wednesday morning on the fair's website.

I'm sure this was a difficult decision to make and most people on social media are being understanding. Such a large crowd could still be a risk in July or many families just won't feel comfortable in that environment yet.

Not to mention the economic toll this pandemic has taken on so many Americans.

I'm sure some vendors at the fair aren't in a position to put down money at this time. There are tons of contributing factors!

Also we should keep in mind that this even is organized and put on entirely by volunteer committee members. This is the time of year that the committee would be meeting to get sponsors, entertainment, and sign contracts. Due to the stay at home order this is a nearly impossible task.

Many comments asked why the committee didn't decide to reschedule the fair to the Fall.

Unfortunately, I can't answer that question and I'd be curious to know the answer myself.

All I know is we will miss the rides, the ice cream trailer, the petting zoo, and various food trucks. We hope to see the Stratham fair back in 2021!
