Stephen King and Elon Musk Take to Twitter to Battle Over Monthly Fee
Twitter is a place where many people go to speak their minds (especially Maine horror author, Stephen King). I get it, Twitter is a place to rant and say how you really feel. Well, if you've been keeping up with Twitter news, then you most likely know that Elon Musk now owns Twitter.
Just like owning anything, owning Twitter comes at a price. However, it seems as though Elon Musk is trying to make some money from those that have a little blue checkmark (yes, the blue checkmark that verifies someone's account). The verification feature is there to distinguish credible accounts from any impostors (people with similar names, fan accounts, scammers, and more).
For more than a monthly payment to Netflix, Musk was trying to put something in place where those with the verification feature may choose to keep their blue checkmark by paying $20 a month. Honestly, that sounds a bit excessive and Stephen King agrees.
King took to Twitter, as he normally does with his feelings, and straight out slammed Elon Musk a few times. Of course, some of what he said could come across as vulgar, so scroll with caution.
"$20 a month to keep my blue check? F*** that," King did not hold back, but luckily his tweet did catch Musk's attention. Elon Musk, responded to King's tweet basically saying that he would go down to $8. Now, $8 is a lot better than $20 but King still doesn't want to agree to Musk's terms.
King went back on Twitter to continue to "slam" Elon Musk.
Basically, King says that Musk has done some great things, but has no idea what to do when it comes to Twitter. King goes on to compare Musk to Tom Sayer saying that Musk cons people into doing things for him and "pay for the privilege."
Musk took to Twitter and had a snapback of his own.
I get it, the verification feature used to be free, however, $8 a month is not a lot to keep away scammers and bots, especially when you have MONEY.
