A Message For Maine Drivers About What to Do When You Spot a Cop While Driving So I Don’t Crash Into You
Dear Drivers,
I want to start off by saying that I understand you do not want a ticket, no one does. Cops are out at all hours of the day ready to catch you speeding. Luckily for us, there are also apps to help tell us when a cop may be close by.
Apps like Waze will warn you when there is a police car has been spotted ahead and it will even tell you if they are hidden. This really is a game-changer. Now, I want to make sure, before I go into it in this letter, that you understand that speeding is never a good thing.
Now that that is clear, let's go over what happened earlier today.
As I was driving to work today, I was driving behind another car and we were both going the speed limit (60 mph). Nothing too crazy there right?
Well, I guess the car in front of me spotted the police car (that always is in the same spot) and decided to hit the brakes making me have to hit my brakes and ultimately switch lanes so that I did not hit them.
Here are a couple of reminders...
1. You do NOT need to go under the speed limit when you spot a cop car. If you are driving the speed limit, you will NOT be pulled over. It is that simple, just drive safely.
2. It is really not the best idea to slam on your breaks even if there is another car behind you. As they may not always have enough time to break as well, and therefore could result in a car crash, and no one wants that.
All in all, just be careful when driving and honor speed limits, it really isn't that hard.
