It's about that time that everyone is thinking about vacation. We've all had a long few months and we deserve it.

While actually flying to an exotic destination might not be in the cards right now, I've been searching for fun "stay-cations" I can do with my sister who's driving up from Western Mass this weekend.

If you're looking for something similar, this sounds kind of amazing!

A quick day trip to Ellsworth, ME and then a short hike will lead you to a beautiful lake.  Only In Your State Maine says that the hike might not look like much when you first start out but once the trees clear, you'll find yourself staring at this beautiful gem.

The hike starts at Branch Lake Public Forest in Ellsworth, ME.  It's a 239 acre forest, according to the site, with 5 marked trails. Sound a little daunting? Well, the Lake Loop Trail is only about a mile long round trip and leads you directly to Branch Lake!

I admit I'd rather have a nice lounge chair and a drink with an umbrella, but even I can handle this short hike!

According to Only in Your State Maine, the trail begins at the end of Pine Trail, through some bog bridges to the lake, and then loops back around so you end up right back where you started.

Ellsworth Chamber says that there are over 3 miles of trails that lead to the lake, so if you're a more experienced hiker (or not as lazy as me!) there are many different options.
