Are you already worried about overeating on Thanksgiving, and gaining a bunch of weight? Well here's a way for you to burn off a ton of calories before you even take the first bite of your Thanksgiving meal - the Portland Thanksgiving Day 4-Miler!

It's an annual tradition here in Maine's largest city, with this being the 36th year of the event. And not only are you helping yourself by participating, you're helping others, too. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the St. Patrick’s Secondary School in Iten, Kenya, the USM Womens Track team, the Rafiki Foundation, Portland Trails and Partners for World Health.

Last year, I woke up on Thanksgiving morning, and made a spur of the moment decision to run the race. I remember that it was 19 degrees, and I was incredibly cold. But once I got running, my body warmed up very quickly. It's a great experience, and I would highly recommend that you check it out!
