It all started as a bold and silly live on air decision to just blurt out this statement..

“We should totally sing the National Anthem at a Portland Sea Dogs Game.”

This was possibly influenced by early morning coffee adrenaline and a false sense of confidence. I don’t know, mercury was probably in retrograde or something.

But we said it, and we couldn’t take it back.

We legitimately volunteered ourselves to sing the National Anthem for the Portland Sea Dogs, quite possibly the only Maine radio morning show hosts to have ever done this.

Earlier last week, it happened and we shared it online, naturally doubling down by turning the moment into an Instagram reel. We found ourselves now flirting with the idea of Seadogs taking us seriously.

The caption read like a challenge to the universe:

“Two morning show hosts boldly go where no man has gone before… volunteering ourselves to sing the National Anthem at Hadlock for a Portland Sea Dogs game!!! And things have developed…”

And since then… more things did develop.

Fast forward to today, when Slugger and Alan from the Portland Sea Dogs bursted into the studio carrying a box of Sea Dogs biscuits and what can only be described as an official secret.

P.S. those biscuits were heavenly.

Alan let us know that we have officially been selected to sing the National Anthem at Hadlock Field on June 16th. Wait. It’s real.

The studio reaction can best be summarized as: wait… how did this actually happen?

From casual volunteering… to Instagram campaigning… to a mascot surprise delivery of biscuits… this journey has been crazy already and we can’t wait to take all of us with you!

So if you’d like to watch two Mediterranean, middle aged but still sexy morning show hosts sing this American anthem to a stadium full of ball goers, June 16th is the date!

Hadlock Field in Portland is the place and we have no idea how it’s going to go.

One thing is clear: Hadlock Field may want to prepare accordingly!

Because on June 16th, two very willing, slightly stunned radio hosts will be stepping up to the mound and the mic, and they did, in fact, ask for this.
