Portland, Maine Wears America’s Craft Beer Crown. Are You Surprised?
According to Forbes, Portland, Maine had the most microbreweries per capita in the United States in 2016. Portland beat out major cities that are known for their beer such as Denver, Colorado, Seattle, Washington and the other Portland in Oregon.
According to Forbes:
Portland, Maine, has 17 microbreweries in operation and a population of just under 67,000 people. That equates to 25.5 breweries per 100,000 people, the highest rate per capita of any city in the country.
Of course, the city of Portland could have told Forbes about this little known fact... That's why we have an annual "Portland On Tap" to celebrate our love of all things beer. If you are a craft beer connoisseur, Portland On Tap is the place to be on Saturday. The afternoon session is sold out, but you can still get tickets for the evening event which starts at 6 p.m.
