Portland, Maine’s Corner Room Kitchen & Bar Serves a Plate You Won’t Forget

If you ever find yourself in the Portland area craving some Italian, let me save you the time looking on Google and tell you to go straight The Corner Room Kitchen and Bar and order the spaghetti and meatballs. 

If you haven't been to the Corner Room, it's sitting pretty right at 110 Exchange St.

I don’t say this lightly, and please don’t tell my mom or your mom for that matter, but it may be the best spaghetti and meatballs I’ve ever had. 

I’m Mediterranean, so I don’t say this lightly or throw around compliments like it’s nothing.

I fully intended to take a photo as well to share with you but no, because I ate that dish so fast there’s zero evidence that it ever excited.

Just memories. Beautiful carb-loaded memories. I did snap the bread though, eat your heart out. 

Now, I should be avoiding gluten, that’s a whole separate choice I ignore way too much but this was a necessary situation.

The pasta? Perfect. The meatballs were ridiculous. The sauce should be bottled and sold as “heaven sauce”.

After my first bite, I legitimately paused and stopped talking mid-sentence because my brain was entirely focused on what’s happening in my mouth.

And let’s not overlook the bread. Outstanding, dangerous, honestly.  

When you walk in, you are welcomed by the scent of Italian magic.

We were there on a double date with News Center Maine's Lee Goldberg and his wife Karen, along with my wife Nelly, and what was supposed to be dinner turned into a three-hour intensely amazing hang, at The Corner Room.

That’s the vibe of this place, you sit, you eat, you talk, you order another round, and suddenly it’s been hours and no one cares. 

That’s what makes The Corner Room special. It’s not just the food (which is incredible), it’s the experience. 

But also… it’s the spaghetti. Definitely the spaghetti.
