Now that the cold weather is here, drivers need to remember to clear snow and ice from their cars before driving them on public roads.

The Maine State Police posted photos of an accident on I-95 in Houlton that occurred on November 16 when a woman went to pass another car. Ice flew of the other car and landed squarely embedded in her windshield and the puncture splintering the window making it nearly impossible to see out of.

Luckily, no one was hurt, but this could have turned out a lot worse that it did.
Police gave the driver of the vehicle who did not clear their car of ice a ticket for driving with an unsecured load on her vehicle and she'll likely have to get her insurance to cover the damage to the other car.

We're in for more icing again throughout the season, so be sure to take the time to scrape that off your car before you drive off or this could happen to someone else and the outcome might be a lot worse.
