Say goodbye to Payless ShoeSource! Another iconic store we grew up with is going out of business. Payless plans to close all of its stores -- more than 2,100 of them in the United States and Puerto Rico, according to the Wall Street Journal. The WSJ says this is due to another bankruptcy and it may be the largest liquidation in history.

Payless ShoeSource filed for bankruptcy and shut down nearly 400 stores less than two years ago in April of 2017, including several locations in New England, as we previously reported. The reason: Shoppers are buying more of the things they want online or going to other discount stores on sites like Amazon, and this is hurting Payless's bottom line.

Payless has been unsuccessful in its attempt to find a buyer that would keep the chain afloat, as reported by our news partner, WMTW
