One Step Closer To A Christa McAuliffe Commemorative Coin
Thirty three years after the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster which took her life, Christa McAuliffe may soon be recognized on a commemorative coin.
According to WMUR, the U.S. Senate has passed a bill to create a one dollar coin that will feature a likeness of the Concord, New Hampshire teacher, who's life was tragically cut short on her way to become the first educator in space.
Not only will the coin be a great tribute to Christa, it will also help a great cause. Profits from the coin will support the FIRST robotics program. According to Wikipedia, the FIRST robotics program is an international youth organization that operates several events and competitions to to inspire students in engineering and technology fields.
The bill will now go to the House for approval.
