A boy from Bedford will appear on a future episode of "Sesame Street" with the Muppets Elmo and Grover, according to the New Hampshire Union Leader. Carter Murai is a seventh grader at Ross A. Lurgio Middle School in Bedford. School officials said they are "so proud" of Carter on their Facebook page.

Carter is an actor with Down Syndrome. His recent performances include a production of “Alice in Wonderland” with the Manchester Community Players and a couple of television commercials for JC Penney and Care.com, according to the Union Leader. Carter told the reporter that he enjoyed filming the episode of "Sesame Street."

His father, Marc Michael Murai, is quoted as saying:

People become more accepting of individuals with Down syndrome when they are featured in various marketing campaigns, commercials or television shows.

Diversity has become a cornerstone of the popular children's program.

The episode of "Sesame Street" featuring Carter is scheduled to air on January 26th on HBO. It's called “Honk If You Love Librarians.”
