This is the type of thing you hope to only see on a television show or a movie, or hear about on a podcast, but never think it could happen in your local area.

And unfortunately, it just did. In fact, depending on how this case goes, it wouldn't be a shock if this situation actually did turn into an episode of a true crime podcast.

Deceased Woman Found on NH Highway

In the very early hours of Monday, June 5, New Hampshire State Police were called to the northbound side of Interstate 89 in Hopkinton, New Hampshire, after receiving reports of a person laying in the breakdown lane of the highway by mile marker 7.2

Unfortunately and heartbreakingly, according to the NH State Police, they arrived at the scene to discover the deceased body of an unidentified woman.

While police originally said they were looking for information on anything suspicious seen in the area between 11:25p on Sunday, June 4 and 12:15a on Monday, June 5, a woman named Erica Osborne commented on a post by the NH State Police about the incident that she drove by the area around 11:55a and didn't see anything suspicious, which may help narrow the timeline.

In the meantime, NH State Police have released results of an autopsy recently performed on the identified victim, and her cause of death is listed as "blunt impact head injuries," with the manner of death not having been released at the time of this writing.

Police also released a description of the woman:

...white, fair skin complexion, strawberry blonde-red hair, blue eyes, approximately 18-30 years of age, 5’01”, 111 pounds, neon green colored finger and toenails.

They're also trying to identify her through a tattoo that is "located on the small of her back, on the left side" and has been enhanced for clarity (which means it appears as very much smaller on her actual body.)

While multiple commenters on the post by the NH State Police have brought up missing Vermont teen Renee Robert, a post to the Vermont State Police blog confirms that they have learned of Renee's whereabouts and confirmed her safety, which means the Jane Doe in question is not Renee.

If you have any information about who the deceased woman could be or anything that may have lead to her death, NH State Police are urging you to call 603-MCU-TIPS or reach out to MCU@dos.nh.gov.
