The Granite State will soon follow the lead of other New England states will less harsh possession laws.

Pot smokers in New Hampshire will soon be able to be a little less paranoid.

According to WMUR, Governor Chris Sununu is about to receive legislation agreed upon by both the House and the Senate that will decriminalize small amounts of marijuana. He is expected to sign the bill.

Originally, the House passed a bill that would allow possession of up to one ounce be considered a violation, which carries a fine of $100. The Senate changed the amount to up to 3/4 of an ounce.

While small amounts of recreational marijuana are still not fully legal in New Hampshire as they are in Maine and Massachusetts, the new law will be a big change from it's current state, which considers possession a misdemeanor. Currently, people in New Hampshire caught with any amount of pot could face both fines and jail time.
