There have been some pretty creative forgeries of state inspection stickers by those who probably know their vehicle isn't going to pass. You would think that if someone is going to go through the trouble of making a forged inspection sticker look authentic, they might put a little bit more into it. This person who got stopped by the New Hampshire State Police put up a valiant effort but pushed his luck a little too far.

When people decide to fake an inspection sticker, their thought process is simple, yet flawed. They think that a police officer won't be able to tell the difference between their forgery and the real deal. What they don't realize, is police officers are experts at spotting these counterfeit stickers.

Like this one that got nabbed in 2019 by the Plaistow New Hampshire Police Department. I can hear his out-loud thought process now. "Hey, Bobby! Hand me my pack of smokes. I have an idea."

Or how about this one from 2018 that was nabbed by the Maine State Police?

I mean, it's not bad, but they still got caught.

But this most recent counterfeit inspection sticker in New Hampshire pretty much wins the award for pushing the limit.

Forget for a moment that this is a pretty bad forgery of a New Hampshire inspection sticker. But notice the dates on it?

Yep. Not only is it a bad forgery, but the actual forged sticker had an expiration date of April 30, 2023. They got nabbed for this on June 4, 2023. It looks like they might have used the portion of their real expired sticker, and that just ups the dumb quotient.
