My Stubborn Husky Won’t Take His Medications
Caesar can be a very stubborn dog. He is a senior citizen and takes several different medications every day. His meds are necessary for his health and well-being. Sometimes, he's cooperative. Most of the time, he's not.
I've tried everything from A to Z: Peanut butter, cheese, deli meat, chicken, hot dogs, pill pockets, canned dog food, etc. He's very smart: He eats everything, but the pill. He has even tricked me into thinking he swallowed it; then, I find it later under one of his toys.
I hate having to force-feed him his medicine. It's difficult for me to get him to hold still, while I stick the pill into his mouth and hold his mouth closed and tickle his neck at the same time.
Caesar loves pizza and pasta (much like his Mommy). So tonight, I snuck his meds into a small plate of spaghetti and he gobbled it right up. Let's hope this works tomorrow, but I have a feeling he'll figure it out. He's too smart for his own good.
