My Dog’s Behavior Has Me Convinced My New Maine Home is Haunted
About a month ago, I moved into my brand new house in Maine. And even though I'd rather get a colonoscopy every week than move (I say that now having never had a colonoscopy, so my tune could change real quick -- I just despise moving), it's been one of the best things I've ever done in my life.
My commute to work improved drastically, it checks off all the boxes as far as having a fenced-in backyard for the pup, not too much house for one person to maintain, and it's just in a killer location with nice but not nosy neighbors. And everything has been fantastic other than a quick, almost-severe plumbing issue.
Until last night. Last night got weird.
The picture above? That's normally how my dog, Remy, acts throughout the night. Lays down, chills, and lives his best life completely unbothered. At night, he either sleeps soundly on his bed or in my bed. But last night was the exact opposite.
At some point after midnight last night, Remy randomly popped up from his bed and walked right over to where my head was, licked me directly in the eye (which is probably why I've been rocking a stye for the last week), and started walking around the bedroom. After about 20 minutes of that, he hopped in bed with me and settled in.
That lasted about 2 minutes, when he then popped off my bed and started walking downstairs and back to the bedroom, repeatedly, for about 20 more minutes. Continuing to nudge me and lick my face to wake me up the whole time. And had he started barking his face off, I may be would've thought something more than the fact that he was just living up to his nickname of "psycho pup."
But then I got randomly curious. What if there was a reason for him behaving so weird? Because if he acted like that every now and then or even a couple of times before not just in the new house, but at any time since I adopted him a few years ago, I wouldn't be writing this article right now.
So, on a whim, I checked my security camera. And while I've seen "orbs" that I'm pretty sure were just moths or flies cruising by the camera and triggering the motion censor, I noticed something different this time. Around the exact same time Remy started acting super weird.
Those four orbs that are on camera the whole time? They're not just flying back the camera in one motion, they're hovering. All within the same distance from each other the entire time, constantly moving toward my door. Almost as if they're attempting to get inside but keep failing. Again, around the same exact time that Remy started acting super weird and constantly kept going downstairs and then back to my bedroom over and over.
In fact, there's even a point during the recording where you see a fifth "orb" enter the frame and then quickly leave, showing the difference between those four original orbs and what was probably a fly quickly entering and exiting the camera's view.
Coincidence? Maybe. Is my house haunted? Could be. Vecna from Stranger Things trying to pull me into the Upside Down but thwarted by Remy? Like Kevin Garnett said after the Celtics won the 2008 NBA Championship -- anything is possible.
