The Maine Boy Who Dressed as His Real-Life Hero, Mr. Drew
Most young kids have superheroes that they look up to and dress as for Halloween. But there is one young boy in Maine who decided his superhero wears jeans, not capes.
This Halloween Cedar is dressing as our local animal rescuer, Mr. Drew from “Mr. Drew and His Animals Too”. His outfit is complete with a gray beard, glasses, bald head and even a yellow toy snake.
I saw a photo of him all dressed up on Facebook and had to find out what was behind this. His Mom told me that young Cedar has been obsessed with Mr. Drew ever since he was two years old.
You see, Cedar had to take frequent trips to the hospital in Lewiston and would visit Mr. Drew’s animal sanctuary when he was located there. Seeing him and his animals brightened his journey and what began as a distraction for the young boy, became a mentor, inspiration, and full blown passion.
His mom told me that when she asked the 4 year old for an exact reason of why he dressed as Mr. Drew he said, "because he's the bestest and my favorite person and I love him, and people should know that snakes are our friends and not be scared of them"
The costume is more then just cute, it’s complete proof that the power of a person leaves a mark on you, no matter what age. Mr. Drew and his crew have been rescuing animals forever spreading the message to local children and Cedar got the message.
