Mothers’ Day Preview at Local Florist [Photos]

Mothers' Day is second only to Valentine's Day for the floral industry.  So, I thought that I would run across the street to our neighbors at Minott's Flowers to see how things were going. I got a little behind the scenes look at our local florist.

Samantha Emery and the ladies at Minott's were hard at work custom making bouquets for some lucky moms.  Samantha told me that whimsical colors, such as pink, cream and lavender were the more popular colors this holiday.

Minott's, Harmon's & Barton's and Sawyer and Company are locally owned together and rely on each other. If they run out of a certain flower or color, they can run across town to gather the needed flower.

Together, they expect to deliver over 1100 bouquets for Mothers' Day.  On top of that, they have the University of Southern Maine graduation, proms, several weddings and funerals to cover this weekend.

They'll be making deliveries from Freeport to Biddeford to Windham to Buxton and every where in between.  And they reminded me, that it's not to late to order flowers for that special mom in your life.  In fact, they expect that there will plenty of last minute orders.  Happy Mothers' Day!
