This is the first reported case of measles in two years in Maine.

Measles is contagious and can be very serious, especially in children younger than five. Symptoms of measles include red, watery eyes, high fever, runny nose, coughing and a rash, according to the CDC at the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services. Then after two or three days have passed, the CDC says tiny white spots (Koplik spots) may appear inside an infected person's mouth. These symptoms usually appear about seven to 14 days after a person is infected.
