For the second day in a row, many parts of Maine will feel at or above 100 degrees today. The excessive heat has caused some Maine Schools to cut the first day of school down to a half day.

According to WMTW, schools in Windham, Raymond, Westbrook, Biddeford, and several other communities are dismissing students early, because many of the classrooms are just too hot.

I think this week is too early to start school anyway! I agree with the decision by the school district in which my daughters attend, which is to begin classes after Labor Day.

Unfortunately, many parents will be scrambling today to make other plans. But I'm sure the kids are happy about it!
