What criteria does one have to meet to be a real Maine kid? We could debate that all day long based on foods to eat and landmarks to visit, but one thing I think we can all agree on? Spending the day at Funtown USA.

It's hard to believe Funtown has been a Maine staple in Saco since 1967. Generations have enjoyed rides like the Merry-Go-Round, Bumper Cars, Flying Trapeze, Barney Oldfield Roadsters, Dragon's Descent, and the infamous Astrosphere.

(It's okay, you can press play. I know you want to. Go to 1:18 for the memories to REALLY hit you.)

Rides have come and gone over the generations but the memories have lasted a lifetime.

There's nothing like being there as a new generation steps into the park and to see them experience the same magic you did. Seeing the giant dragon in front of the Dragon's Descent is a sure sign of a great day.

Wishing you were there yet? Spinning the teacups? Spraying people in the log flume?

Well, in just two short months, Funtown USA will be back in business. Opening day is set for May 7th, Mother's Day!

I know what you're thinking, "What about Splashtown USA?!" It has to warm up just a smidge more but they'll be opening their doors (and waterslides) on June 20th, the first day of summer.
