Get Outside! WinterGames Kick Off Across Maine Schools
Okay kiddos! Time to get outside and have some winter fun! Yes, those two words definitely match well, I’ll tell you why!
Winter in Maine can be long, we all know this.
And while it can be very tempting to just cozy up in your Snuggie with your dog inside and just wait it out until spring, WinterKids is again reminding us that winter can be something to celebrate!
This week, WinterKids kicked off the ninth annual Winter Games, according to WMTW.
This will bring the epic outdoor fun to 88 schools all across the beautiful state of Maine.
WinterKids is Back And 88 Maine Schools Are Competing
Happening through the month, more than 10,000 students are taking an active part in some friendly, fun winter competition. The games were created to get kiddos outside, stay active, and compete, together.
The theme this year? The heart! Which, fits perfectly, each week focuses on a different areas of physical activity, connection, and nutrition, according to the article. This all wraps up with a winter carnival!
Each activity will help students step outside and experience winter in Maine in a fun way! Encouraging everyone not to hide from this time of year, but instead bundle up and embrace it!
Executive Director of WinterKids said,
"Winter are really long, it's our longest season, and we know that it can be really comfortable to stay inside and stay warm, however, we also know that the benefits of getting outside and outdoor learning are remarkable.”
