Massive excitement is building throughout Maine as the Maine Wildlife Park gears up to open their doors for the 2026 season. And after a very long winter, we are all very ready for this to happen.
The park put out a little tease on their Facebook page reminding us all,
“Waiting stinks, but there are only THREE days until we open our gates to earn our 2026 season stripes.” with a picture of a skunk!
Opening day is April 15th and it promises to feel like “a spray of sunshine,” inviting visitors to reconnect with the state’s fascinating wildlife!
What should the new bobcat at Maine Wildlife Park be named?
But what’s happening right before opening is exciting everyone!
There is new life this year centering around a brand new resident, a very spirited one-year-old bobcat!
The park recently introduced this young feline and is calling on all of us to help choose their name.

Described as independent, agile, and striking, she embodies the essence of Maine’s wild bobcats, from her tufted ears to her signature bobbed tail.
A lot of people are chiming in with awesome creative suggestions like Artemis, Moxie, and Cornelia Crosby! This adds an extra fun layer excitement before opening day.
