The Mall may be reopening, but most of the stores will still be closed.

According to the Portland Press Herald, the Mall's manager doesn't expect big crowds at the mall. If you do want to head to the Maine Mall, you will be need to wear a face mask.

Also, smaller stores will have limits on how many shoppers will be allowed and the hours will be cut back.

The general manager says about 20 percent of the roughly 100 stores are expected to open Monday, June 1, according to the Press Herald, and Macy's is the only big anchor store that plans to open up fully!

Best Buy is still going to do curbside pickup and shopping in the store by appointment, the newspaper stated, and J.C. Penny and Sears didn't say if they were going to open or not.

You'll notice the changes immediately. Doors will be open so that you don't have to touch a handle. Where to go in and how to come out will also be obvious. Announcements will be made to stay 6 feet away from people and you'll also be reminded with signs everywhere.

Governor Janet Mills also added to reopening stores, that they must require people to wear face coverings if they can't be 6 feet apart.

The Press Herald stated that the mall will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday. That's down from the 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, pre-pandemic.

Also, don't plan on hanging out eating at the food court. All tables and chairs are gone and restaurants are only doing take out. Some of the common area seating has also been taken out. Vending machines are gone and 14 hand sanitizer dispensers are now in the mall with more coming, the Press Herald stated, and there are two sanitizing stations, where you can go to get masks or gloves.

They are trying to be as touch free as possible, and they will shut it down if it gets too crowded, but they don't expect they will have to do that.
