This is the kind of story we need right now.

Bangor Professional Firefighters IAFF Local 772 saw someone who needed their day turned around, so they did just that.

Engine 1 in Bangor was coming back from a call when they saw an older woman slip and fall on Hammond Street hill. They pulled right over and ran to help her up. This is when they learned that she was headed to catch a bus at the new transit station on Court Street. So they escorted her making sure she got there safely. That's when they learned that she missed her bus to Brewer.

If that's not bad enough, she was heading to Brewer for cancer treatment. Lieutenant Wunder was able to get the bus to come back and get her on it so she didn’t miss her appointment. That is the most incredible story ever. That is why I love Maine. This is what keeps us here through the coldest temperatures. Because of good people that keep us warm.

That being said, be a Bangor firefighter and check on your neighbors during this cold snap. It's quick, but it's dangerously cold!

This is the perfect time to make sure that anyone you know that might need a little help, gets it. Whether it's a car not starting or the heat isn't working, just keep an eye out so that you can be a Bangor fire fighter! Way to set the bar for us and remind us that it's not that hard to be nice.
