Well this is some pretty great news, in light of a recent tragedy. According to NewCenter Maine, a couple of Maine beer companies are stepping up and helping out Australian firefighters in a big way, following the devastating fires in Australia.

Rock Brewing Company in Sydney has what they're calling a "karma keg." Every beer sold from it will raise money to help the men and women on the front lines, battling the fires.

There's an event happening at Shipyard Brewing Company in Portland later today to celebrate a partnership between the two companies.

I think it's a great thing that this local brewery is doing! I feel awful about the damage that these fires have caused in Australia. It's good to see some local folks stepping up to lend a helping hand to them.

Speaking of beer, did you know that Portland On Tap is happening a week from Saturday? You can get all of the details here!
