A delicious record could be set in Maine this summer! The Woods at Canco, at 257 Canco Road in Portland, is holding a fundraising event for Camp Sunshine on Saturday, July 20th. They will be attempting to set a record for Portland's longest banana split ever assembled. The banana split is slated to be about 50 feet long, and will be officially measured by Portland Mayor Ethan Strimling. The public is invited to witness the event, which has a suggested donation of $8 and will include an all-you-can-eat sundae bar.

The banana split is sponsored by Sammy Scoops, who has generously agreed to donate all of the materials. It will be a classic split: vanilla, strawberry, chocolate ice cream with pineapple, chocolate sauce, strawberry, bananas whipped cream, nuts, and cherries. After measuring, the split will be enjoyed by the guests. Sounds delicious!

There will be lots of games, food, and prizes. Several mascots will be there, available for family pictures, including Otto the Moose from Bill Dodge, Crusher from the Maine Red Claws, and Oakie from Oakhurst. There will be a dunk tank, sponsored by the Bill Dodge Auto Group.
