Okay, L.L.Bean fans... the wait is almost over.

The iconic L.L.Bean Flagship Store in Freeport is reopening September 18 after nearly two years of renovations, and there are some pretty fun changes inside.

Don't worry, the giant Bean Boot isn't going anywhere, don't worry.

But the store is getting a serious refresh according to their site, and honestly, it sounds like you're going to want to go check it out.

Here's what caught my attention:

  • A brand-new entrance with a huge staircase.
  • A bigger, two-level trout pond. Yes, really.
  • An upgraded stream tank with even more fish.
  • A new Custom Shop where you can personalize your L.L.Bean gear.
  • A refreshed 1912 Café with more seating.
  • A totally redesigned kids' area inspired by a Maine summer camp.
  • An expanded Discovery Park with more room to hang outside.
  • New displays showing off L.L.Bean's history and some of its most iconic gear.
  • And yes... 24-hour shopping is coming back!

The reopening is also kicking off six weekends of events, so there will be plenty happening around the store this fall.

And let's be honest, you don't really need an excuse to visit L.L.Bean in Freeport.

Maybe you're there for new boots. Maybe it's a hoodie. Maybe you're just going to wander around, grab some food and see the fish pond.

I remember when our parents took us when we were little and my younger brother fell into the fish pond. It wasn't funny at the time, but we've been laughing about it for years now.

Either way, the Freeport flagship is getting a makeover, and it sounds like it's going to be worth the trip.
