Like to Drive Really Fast? Try the NASCAR Experience in Loudon, New Hampshire
Are you like me and love to hit the pedal to the metal whenever you get the chance? We're called speed demons.
We can't help it, because it's in our DNA. Thank goodness for motor racing, so we can watch other professional speed demons race to the bitter end.
Sunday afternoons watching the NASCAR Cup Series is a habit in our house. It's like traditional Sunday family dinners, except it's in front of a TV, and there's usually a cold beverage and wings involved. Does this sound familiar? I thought so.
Your local NH speedway can hook you up.
Lucky for us, we live near the New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon. NHMS hosts many races, but the big weekend is the NASCAR Xfinity and Cup Races in June.
This year, the race weekend is June 21-23, which is earlier than the usual July races. Capacity seating at the speedway is 76,000, so as you can imagine, there are people everywhere during the weekend. The cool thing about racing is that many people can get close to the drivers for pre-racing festivities.
What do you do if you don't like crowds, but love to drive fast and watch racing?
That's easy. Twice each summer, NHMS offers the NASCAR Driving Experience, which is your opportunity to drive a stock car on the same oval the celebrity drivers speed around on.
"The Magic Mile", as it's called, can be YOUR Magic Mile. Imagine suiting up in a real race fire suit and adding a race helmet with an ear bud and microphone so the organizers can talk to you.
This summer, the dates for the racing experience are June 24 & 29.
It's not cheap, but could be the perfect gift for the "hard-to-buy-for" person in your life, especially for Father's Day. There are restrictions, but you can find out more at NHMS.com. Gift cards are available too.
There are many racing experiences at NHMS, but this is the only NASCAR Experience. If you like other forms of racing, check out Penguin Road Racing School, Xtreme Xperience, Team O'Neil Rally School, and the Sports Car Driving Association. All are listed here.
There's also a Motorcycle Week for a totally different type of speed demon.
Feed your need for speed. They may not be Next Gen cars, but it's as close as we're going to get.
