Three weeks ago today, our lives got turned upside down. The police came to my house and told me my husband had been hit by a car. I rushed to the emergency room to find Steven laying there confused and pretty beat up. He had a bad concussion and kept asking me what happened. I was relieved to see he was coherent despite the confusion which the nurses reassured me was totally normal. Everyone in the ER kept saying how lucky he was and how much worse things could have been.

For the past few weeks, Steven has been in intensive PT and OT trying to build up his strength. He has had MRIs, X-rays, and CAT scans up the wazoo to assess the damage on his body. The verdict is he will need a few invasive surgeries and still has a long recovery ahead.

This weekend, he was FINALLY able to come home! Before we got him settled in the apartment, he requested I bring him to the crosswalk where he was hit, so he could finish crossing the street. This video brings tears to my eyes so I wanted to share it with you:

This whole experience has shown me how quickly life can change and to never take anything for granted.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out and asked about Steven's condition, sent prayers our way, and shared personal stories with us. Your love and support mean more than we could ever express. Also, whoever sent "Cheryl's" cookies to the hospital without a card, we salute you.
